I went the Nichols Arboretum to take these photographs. The normal picture is of a tree near an open field in the middle of the arboretum. Even though the picture is close up it was taken with a 10-20mm sigma lens. One of my favorite parts of the image is the vines that have wrapped around the trunk of the tree. I still think the color is a little too blue.

Lonely Evergreen (Oil Painting Filter)

The oil painting picture is of an evergreen that I found all alone with no other green trees. I like this because it draws your eyes to the tree and leaves out the rest of the other trees as background. There was a row of evergreens off to the side that can’t be seen inframe, but they're far away from the tree that is shown. The normal picture is of a dead piece of tall grass.
This is an open field that is in the middle of the arboretum taken from far away and up close. The spot where I took the normal picture is one my favorite spots in the park. When you enter through Geddes and take a steep path down a hill, the stairs up to this viewpoint is off to the left. People usually aren’t there during the winter, so you can relax and enjoy the view of the arboretum.
The normal picture of a squirrel was a complete accident. I thought I was just taking a picture of a tree, but I caught the squirrel almost dead center of the photo. I didn’t realize this until after looking over my images when I got home. The tree in the oil painting is dead and probably will be blown over in a storm. I had other pictures of this tree that I really liked, but I could only choose two.
My favorite part of the entire arboretum is the Huron River. There is a long path that stretches the entire riverfront with multiple spots that go up to the water. When taking photos of water (like in the normal image) I would recommend using a lens with a long focal length. You probably don’t need anything above 100-200mm. And to bring out the color by increasing the saturation, exposer, vibrancy, and clarity.
