These pictures were taken at the Heidelberg Project in Detroit. The entire street is a big art exhibit in the open air. There are more than just houses, it also includes sculptures and other artistic structures. Sadly over the past few years, many of the houses have been destroyed to arson.
These photos are of the statue ‘The Spirit of Detroit’ by Marshall Fredericks. The statue is located at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center on Woodward Ave. The total cost to build this statue was $58,000.
This is the One Woodward building located across from ‘The Spirit of Detroit’. It holds several business and corporations. The challenge was lining up the shot dead center because the slightest mistake in symmetry can ruin the entire photo.
These pictures are of Capitol Building in Washington DC. There were many people visiting at the same time so I couldn’t get a shot of the full building. I really like the building’s design and history.
These pictures are of the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. I was there for a Gordon Parks exhibit. After seeing that exhibit I got the idea to go around DC and take some pictures because I had brought my camera with me.
